Overview
Public Relations (PR) involves portraying a company in an appropriate image to the public. Every company wants to be viewed in a certain way, for example, family friendly, professional, fun, luxurious or economic and PR makes sure this image is upheld. Public relations advice can help your company to achieve this.
PR varies between companies but is essential for any business, even if they do not realise it. Examples of PR can be seen through any marketing which its business uses, for example, in the chosen colour scheme of company’s website or the vocabulary used on a leaflet, etc.
More obvious examples of PR may be:
-
The use of press releases
-
Interviews
-
Press conferences
-
News articles
-
Word of mouth publicity
A PR campaign involves a structured operation in creating the correct image for your business. Both established companies and start-ups may choose to embark upon a PR campaign in order to make sure all of the correct messages about the business are put across to the public. This may involve an overhaul of all of the marketing and even the ways in which the business is run in order to target the correct demographic.
