Overview
Corporate Identity
Corporate identity usually consists of a logo and supporting items such as a strapline, which are all produced according to a set of pre-determined guidelines.
These guidelines dictate how the identity is applied to marketing materials and will confirm approved colours, typefaces and fonts, page layouts for corporate literature and any other applications of the brand to marketing communications materials in order to ensure that consistency is acheived across all areas in which the brand is visible to the customers and the market.
Many companies pay large amounts of money for an identity that is completely individual to them and which contains exclusive character traits so that it is more appealing to the relevant target audience.
Corporate identity encompasses three different areas:
-
Corporate design which can include logos, uniforms, signage, etc
-
Corporate communication which includes all forms of marketing communications such as advertising, public relations, corporate literature, etc.
-
Corporate conduct which can include the vision, mission and values of the company in addition to guidelines on how staff behave, answer telephones, emails, etc
